Rachel Moorhouse from William Law CE Primary School named finalist for national Music Inspiration Award
William Law CE Primary School in Peterborough is celebrating after music lead Rachel Moorhouse was announced as a finalist for the Music Inspiration Award in the 2026 Music and Drama Education Awards.

Rachel has been nominated for her outstanding contribution as a nationally respected leader, strategist, and advocate for inclusive access to music.
She has transformed music provision at William Law and beyond, establishing the school as a Lead School for the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Music Education Hub and creating sustainable pathways for teachers and pupils.
Amy Lenton, Principal at William Law CE Primary School, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that Rachel’s hard work and creativity has been recognised.
“She has transformed music at William Law, opening up new opportunities for children to perform, compose and express themselves with confidence. This recognition is thoroughly deserved.”
Rachel leads over 20 city-wide Peterborough Primary Music Network meetings, provides CPD for early career teachers, and designs open-classroom observation opportunities to share best practice.
As a Music Mark Schools Lead, regional music hub board member, and adviser to Peterborough Diocesan Educational Trust (PDET), William Law has been recognised by Music Mark.
Ruth Walker-Green, CEO of Peterborough Diocese Education Trust (PDET), of which the school is part of, added: “Rachel’s nomination recognises her exceptional work as an adviser to PDET, supporting our schools in developing high-quality music provision and sharing her expertise across the trust.
“Her calm collaboration uplifts everybody and her leadership continues to strengthen music education at both school and trust level.”
Rachel’s leadership has included coordinating two massed-choir performances at the Royal & Derngate Theatre, involving over 1,200 pupils from 36 schools in PDET’s annual “Just Sing” event, as well as themed music evenings, school choirs and so much more.
The award winner will be announced at the Music & Drama Education Awards ceremony in London on Thursday 12 February 2026.
